Winter Break

This post is going to be Winter Break w/o Christmas, that will have it's own post....not sure when, but hopefully sooner than later.

Finley's been waiting since October 21 to find out if he was the Top Seller of popcorn for his Cub Scout Pack. W/ so many awesome people buying popcorn from him, we knew he had to be up there on the list. They called up the Top 5 to get things started.

Finley literally stood there w/ his fingers-crossed!

Then it was narrowed to three boys...

...and while the Leader was talking, he grew more and more excited....

...IT WAS HIM!

Laura uncovered his name on the Pack's Top Seller Popcorn Trophy!

He received a trophy to take home...

...and his name will forever be on the pack trophy.

Per tradition, last year's Top Seller gets to "pie" this year's Top Seller. As Laura made this announcement, my thought was Ooooh, Finley is so NOT going to like this, but when I looked over he was standing proudly and had already taken his glasses off - he was ready to be pied.

Then it was Finley's turn to pie three leaders of his choosing - his Den leader Chad, Bobbie, and Pack Leader Laura.

And of course the prizes. Thank you to everyone that bought popcorn from Finley, he has earned his summer camp trip 😄

I'm in charge of snow removal at our house and it was fun to have some helpers, even though they totally messed up my system 😉

Larry & Sue were out of town, so we shoveled their driveway too - when we get a lot of snow, Larry will plow our driveway before I get out there w/ my shovel, so it was fun to repay him.

Driveway spelling.

Done!

Karen & Dave had the kids over for holiday baking and early Christmas gifts. Finley was excited to get a Cubs baseball binder and Cubs baseball cards.

Hadley received new outfits for Tenney and quickly got to playing and organizing.

Carolynne & Savannah were home for Christmas and met up w/ us at the Christmas Village. Savannah wasn't super excited about walking, nor the cold, nor standing in front of the tree...such a sad cry face.

It was chilly, but worth it to walk through all of the lights.

A 2011 Facebook memory w/ the caption: Finley, when you're gone we play with your hot wheels...

....and it's still true in 2018, only it's a different kind of wheels.

Reading and hot chocolate to celebrate that after one month in the Title Reading Program, Hadley is getting kicked out! During that four weeks, she received a "double dip" of reading time w/ the reading specialist and we read so so so much at home - when they retested Hadley her reading score doubled! She went from reading at an "end of Kindergarten level" to a "February 1st Grade level"! YES!!!

No idea what prompted this, but apparently Finley wants us to stay out of his room.

No school means company when I run.

We set up a trampoline date w/ Henri & Allie. Unfortunately, Allie's blood sugar fell and she wasn't able to join us, but her sister Lily stepped in.

When we returned, Allie was feeling better so Hadley stayed to play, which turned into a sleepover for two girls and two American Girl dolls in matching jammies.

And that meant a Saturday morning donut date for Finley & me.

Hadley was soooo exhausted from the sleepover, she laid in my lap at Spencer's hockey game.

Magic eyes? One eye took to the dilation drops more than the other 😎

Patrick won a Coach for the Day in the silent auction fundraiser for the UWEC Foundation.

Hanging out w/ the men's basketball team before the game...

...high fives as the team entered the gymnasium...

...great seats...

...they joined the players on the court for the starting line up and team huddle...

...and enjoyed cheering the Blugolds on to a win!

Three cute boys sitting near me.

Santa brought Hadley a gymnastics bar, the kids spent a lot of time hanging around in the entry way (it's now in it's new home downstairs).

Laser tag + hoverboard = fun.

An early birthday song and cake for Grandma's birthday.

We hosted our annual family-friendly New Years Eve gathering, I think there were 12ish kids ranging from 1-11 years old. Like normal, it was a little chaotic but fun to catch up w/ friends. I only took one picture - it's Owen stuck inside Tenney's ice cream truck...a perfect example of the craziness.

The party was over and I welcomed 2018 w/ quiet snuggles.
