School hosted a Family Scavenger Hunt around the building to review/learn the expectations in the classroom, hallway, and other specialist areas. Finley was pumped to show off that he is part of the Math Wall of Fame, it's a big deal in the 3rd grade hallway.

My favorite downtown footbridge got fancy - it lights up. We went downtown for the official lighting of the bridge.
Thanks to Grandpa & other developers, our downtown is really changing (improving!), there are many new things happening and it's fun to be part of these "firsts".
Hockey season is coming, we visited Uncle Ryan's store for new apparel to wear when we cheer on our favorite little Raiders.
My kids had a bonus day off last week, we road-tripped to bring the boys lunch at school. It was our first time having lunch w/ Nolan and he didn't know we were coming. Once he spotted us peeking through the window, he ran to hide behind the playground shed - they love to hate (tease I hope) me.
We ate our way through three lunch shifts, it is fun to see the boys at school. As we've gotten to know more and more of their neighbors, we see quite a few familiar faces in the cafeteria.
Finley was excited to play Gaga Ball w/ Spencer and his friends, unfortunately he literally 'ate dirt' when he first got into the pit. At our school, the pit is on blacktop, Finley wasn't ready for the traction-less sand. One game even got down to cousin vs cousin as the last two in the pit (they are NOT fighting in the bottom picture).

After lunch we drove into St Paul to try out Can Can Wonderland. It was a suggestion from Auntie and didn't disappoint, it was a perfect place to spend a couple hours before driving home. Can Can Wonderland is a warehouse-rustic-like building and has a unique artist-created mini golf course, old-school arcade, and a malt counter.
Finley tried the "Fruity Pebbles Malt" (as gross as it sounds) and Hadley played it safe w/ a very delicious chocolate/caramel sundae.
Patrick was still in New Mexico, his connection was spotty and FaceTime often failed. Finley is kind of a "texter" these days, he's even requested a "bitmoji" of himself...I remember when simple ABC apps would hold his attention for too long, now he's sending "snaps" of himself. This screenshot made me laugh, Finley texted it to Patrick to prove FaceTime wasn't working.
Baseball is officially over for the year, Fall Ball ended very wet. Finally, the second game was called off after the players were soaked.
Finley loves baseball and is looking forward to Baseball Academy this winter, but I think we're all ready for a little ballpark break. Next spring, Finley will officially be in Kid-Pitch!
The rain continued all day long and it was a perfect day for board games that were neglected all summer. OMG - I played a lot of Yahtzee, Sequence, LIFE, Sorry, dominoes, Princess Cupcakes and mancala.
We also had our first fire, unfortunately this peaceful setting turned anything but peaceful when Patrick & Finley ran to the store. The fire was dying down, so I added two more logs and immediately smoke started rolling into the house rather than up the chimney. I quickly called Patrick, opened the doors/windows and then the home security system triggered a fire alarm. It's not just a loud beep, but a loud voice exclaiming, FIRE! FIRE! EVACUATE THE HOUSE! FIRE! FIRE! EVACUATE THE HOUSE! Fresh off Fire Safety Week in school, this freaked Hadley out. She's crying, the house is telling us to get out, and the phone is ringing...fortunately, I was able to call-off the Fire Dept by explaining what happened. Within 15 minutes, the smoke was mostly gone, the house was now freezing (windows/doors were wide open) and Hadley will never want another fire again.
On Sunday, Patrick took Finley to the hunting land to set up tree stands, so Hadley & I did girl-things like bake cookies and play a zillion more board games.
She also jumped in the leaves, because we 💗 fall!
