A Weekend Away

It was my first full week of summer vacation and it was mostly spent prepping for the weekend...with plenty of jammie days.

My Grandpa Juel, founder of Market & Johnson, was inducted into the EC Business Hall of Fame.  My dad accepted on his behalf and shared stories of the type of person my Grandpa was - it was fun to hear old and new stories about an AWESOME man.

While I attended the luncheon honoring my Grandpa, the kids played at Melissa & Elle's.  Finley was excited to go, I wasn't sure how Hadley would do - she did great!  From the pictures, it looks like they played with everything.

The kids helped Melissa prepare a yummy and fun lunch - painted grilled cheese!

It sounds like everyone ate - that's a success with my kids!  Thanks Melissa!

Patrick, Heidi, Ryan & I flew to...VAIL!  Friday night we celebrated the engagement of a childhood friend, Courtney & Ross. 

We took a gondola to the top of a mountain!  I had never been to Colorado, wow, the mountains are incredible.

The huge, snow-capped mountains were just like I was picturing, only bigger.

And there's always that guy.

It was time for a beautiful wedding...

We grew up next door to Emily & Courtney...

...now our moms are grandmas.

Even though he owns an iPad and iPhone, my dad has a love-hate relationship with technology at our fingertips. He thinks we're addicted, he's right. But so is he.

Then the party started...

...there was dancing...

...and my old friend Captain.  Enough said.

So, what were the kids up to?  Auntie Shawna came to stay!  Finley is in love with her!  What's not to love, she did anything and everything he wanted.

...had a yummy breakfast made by Grandma Kathleen...

...went to the Children's Museum...

...went to the mall toys (twice) and out to lunch...

...baked brownies...

...played and played and played....

...until someone couldn't keep her eyes open.

We are SO lucky that Shawna was willing to spend the weekend with our kids.  She made it super-easy for us, we didn't worry for a minute.  Thank you Auntie Shawna!
