Even though we don't fly kites the "right" way (too many big trees), the kids burn energy and have a blast running up/down the driveway pulling the kites behind them.
Even Hadley can keep it going.
And once in awhile our kites find the trees.
Bubbles easily entertain Hadley.
She blows them, she chases them and she tries to eat them.

It was our 7th wedding anniversary! We celebrated with a cake (Finley insisted upon five candles because he's 5) and the kids sang "The Anniversary Song" (which sounded exactly like Happy Birthday). Finley wanted to blow out the candles and he panicked when Hadley leaned in.
We went to an Express Game on the fan deck.
Patrick gave Hadley a sprite, she chugged it down and begged for more.
It was the "All Star" game which meant mascots from each Northwoods' team were walking around - Finley loved it! We had to chase Trax down for an autograph.
The kids started swimming lessons! Unfortunately after our hot-hot week, we had settled into a cool-week. I was super-excited to swim with air temps in the upper 60's, grrrr.
Finley is in the Seal group.
They are working on going under and he's not crazy about water in his face...sometimes he appears as though he's drowning when I rinse his hair in the tub.
He doesn't look comfortable floating either.
Time to jump off...
...and he wanted to hold the teacher's hands. We have another week of swimming lessons, but I will not be surprised if he's a Seal again next summer.
Hadley is in the Parent-Tot class, we sing songs, blow bubbles, get our faces wet and float.
Overall, she seems more comfortable in the water than Finley did at 2 years old.
We have a Butterfly Garden! Finley was very excited when his daycare class learned about and witnessed the lifecycle of butterflies this spring. Before his birthday, I found a Butterfly Garden for 50% off and decided it was worth a shot.
The kit came with a certificate to redeem for a cup of caterpillars. We sent it in and four caterpillars showed up in our mailbox. They were in a little cup that contained the nutrition they would need to change into chrysalis. It took about 10 days and we had 4 raccoons! I couldn't believe how crazy the metamorphosis was - each morning the caterpillars were bigger and once they began turning into chrysalis, you could literally watch the physical changes.
After another week or so, we had our first butterfly! Now we have three with hopes the last one will emerge soon.
You can see the orange wings higher up in the net. We feed them sugar-water drizzled on real flowers and watermelon. In about a week, we'll set them free.
Hadley & I walked out to get the mail. She wore Finley's shoes and brought windex with us - no idea why.
The kids were off to Grandpa & Grandma's for two nights! Patrick & I went north for our annual weekend at Scotty's cabin - a tradition that started in roughly 1996. Finley was looking handsome...
...and Hadley had adorable braids. She looks so old with her hair like this, I need to start practicing more than pigtails!

Grandma took the kids to the 4H Fair! Check out the driver of the bus :)
There were animals, games, vehicles to crawl around and food!
Grandma & Grandpa got to hang with all five littles on Saturday - I heard it was busy and wild!

Before we came home, the kids fed the birds...
...and themselves with homemade ice cream! Thanks Mom & Dad for keeping the kids while we enjoyed a weekend-away, we appreciate it!
